In doing so you’re also going to improve your sightreading (the process of singing something through in one try by simply looking at the music). You’re essentially translating the pitches into a new language which will enhance your ability to recognize pitches. There are many practical applications for solfege. So just don’t get too attached to how they look in the music as that will be subject to change in the future once we move past C Major. Just remember since we are using movable do that solfege will be relative to the scale degrees of the key that we are in.
